Vanguard’s 810cc Engines Earn ‘Twenty for 2014’ Best Product Award
MILWAUKEE — The Vanguard 810cc engine line from Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power was included in Landscape and Irrigation Magazine’s “Twenty for 2014” list of best new products serving the turf industry.
Launched in the fall of 2013, the Vanguard 810cc engines meet a growing landscape industry demand for engines designed with higher displacement. The engines offer the optimum 810cc of displacement, which maximizes the capabilities to produce and deliver powerful yet efficient commercial mowers. The Vanguard 810cc engines are available with 24 or 26 gross horsepower1.
“Since launching the Vanguard 810cc engine line last fall, we’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, leading to sales that far exceeded our own aggressive goals,” said Dan Roche, Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power marketing manager. “The market demand has proven our research true that there was a power gap in the commercial turf market that would be filled with the unique makeup of the 810cc Vanguard engine. To be recognized alongside so many other incredible industry innovations in Landscape and Irrigation’s ‘Twenty for 2014’ is icing on the cake to a great first year for the 810.”
In addition to its optimum torque and displacement for commercial mowing, the Vanguard 810cc engines have more than 100 components designed to handle the rigors of the commercial cutting work environment. The engine’s new debris chopper fan delivers unbeatable debris management providing a 30-degree cooler engine. With cylinder access panels everything is made quick and easy to maintain. In addition, the high-flow blower offers 30 percent larger intake surface area than any other competitor, which helps the engine remain cool even in the most extreme conditions.
Most recently, Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power unveiled the next iteration of the 810cc platform: The Vanguard 810cc EFI engine series, which combines the increased fuel efficiency of a closed-loop electronic fuel injection system with the increased capability of an 810cc engine. The EFI engines were unveiled at the 2014 GIE-EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky. Available in 24, 26 or 28 gross horsepower1, the Vanguard EFI engines have an automotive-based closed-loop EFI system for up to 25 percent better fuel economy compared to the already efficient 810cc Vanguard carbureted engine².
The Landscape and Irrigation New Product Awards honors innovative outdoor power equipment products and fertilizer hardscape supplies. Products are submitted and voted on by the Landscape and Irrigation editorial team and the winners are published in the October 2014 issue of the magazine.
