Our 50 TLDI® are leading the way of new technology! The Tohatsu 50 TLDI® is one of the smallest outboards in the market with air-assisted, direct fuel injection. This outboard provides exceptionally smooth operation and outstanding performance simultaneously providing brilliant fuel and oil efficiency.

We have added this new low-pressure air/fuel delivery system to our proven engine block to provide an outboard that is cleaner for the environment while also providing the exceptional performance you expect from a Tohatsu. This compact yet powerful outboard engine provides lower oil and fuel consumption. Our 50 TLDI® weighs up to 15% less than competitor’s 4-stroke outboards and meets all 2006 EPA emission regulations.

Features

How TLDI WorksThe 32-bit ECU (Engine Control Unit) uses its multiple sensors to give precise fuel injection instructions in accordance to the operating conditions it detects. This allows the motor to operate at maximum efficiency, giving boaters a great ride while providing exceptional fuel economy.
*TLDI meets all current regulations stipulated by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

The exhaust gases and the sound are routed through the labyrinth exhaust.This process reduces the noise level to a minimum when exiting above the water line through idle port.

The 32 bit engine control unit controls the fuel injection and ignition timing for TLDI® outboards.

Due to the design of the cylinder head chamber and piston dome, the finely atomized fuel mist created by the fuel injector is injected near the spark plugto achieve ideal combustion.

Pistons
Pistons dedicated to TLDI® outboards

Teflon® coated pistons(Equipped on MD 70/90/115) with a concave shape to the head were specifically designed for TLDI® and significantly increase fuel combustion efficiency.
Three step trolling speed control
Three step trolling speed control

The idling speed can be set to any of the three rpm ranges, 700, 800 or 900, by adjusting it on your key switch. This feature allows you to select the ideal trolling speed for maneuvering during a variety of current and wind conditions. 
Freshwater flushing port

A convenient built-in freshwater flush system on the side of the engine that simplifies routine engine flushing.
High output alternator
High output alternator

Equipped with a high output alternator that produces 37amps of power even at 1,000rpm and a whopping 40amps at wide-open throttle.
Easy maintenance

The TLDI® outboard motors are designed to be simple and have fewer components that need maintenance or service. TLDI®’s does not require oil filter replacements or valve adjustments as compared with four-stroke outboards.
